Headteacher blog 11th March
It has been a long but very positive week at Farfield having enjoyed two Parents’ Evenings as well as Reception’s Pyjama Story Evening. Almost every parental consultation went well: children are working hard, making pleasing progress and are happy in school. Hopefully, everyone could see the evidence for this in their child’s books. I sat in on consultations for 6W as I am due to teach there for a few weeks after Mr Wilkinson leaves at Easter, and I was particularly impressed by the care, linguistic flair and grammatical skill in the extended writing books.
The curriculum continues to be exciting and creative. Lots of Year 6 children enjoyed a session of roped ‘rock’ climbing on Tuesday when a training tower visited school, Year 4 children continue to enjoy Gaelic Football coaching and Year 1 children have had a visit to Farfield Farm to learn more about chickens and their care. Year 3 are ‘attracted’ and not at all ‘repelled’ by their science topic relating to magnets and Year 4 are finding out what was the truth and what are myths about the Vikings. Year 2 continue to be inspired by Julia Donaldson’s books and I was delighted to see Foundation Stage children playing out in the rain on that wet Wednesday…
