Another busy week in Year 3
Maths
In maths this week, children have continued with their learning of time, focusing on the minute intervals, hours in a day, and what this might look like during am and pm hours. Children were given several reasoning questions, which included times like 11:00, and had to discuss with their partners whether it was a.m., p.m., or both with a reason. Children have also been practising their times tables, and this week, we have set the maths homework focusing on the 8 times tables. Children should also use their maths apps on their Chromebooks, such as TT Rockstar, to support their recall.
English
Over the last few weeks, children have enjoyed using their Chromebooks to research different types of cats and used this to begin writing their non-chronological reports. This week, children have written down information on street cats, including their appearance, habitat and diet. This has gone perfectly with our guided reading sessions, reading Varjak Paw, in which we have been introduced to some street cats!
Hadrian’s Wall
The children have loved learning more about the Romans and adding to the story of their invasion each week. This week, they were tasked to present information about Hadrian’s Wall and why it is significant to the class. The children enjoyed creating double-page spreads, songs, and poems to share with the class.
PSHE
This week, children enjoyed learning more about the importance of eating well and staying fit. After discussing and carrying out short exercises, they wrote a letter back to a young boy called Jake on ways he could incorporate staying healthy in his day.

Science
Here are some presentations from 3CW who enjoyed spending an afternoon sharing their understanding of pollination and the different ways seeds are dispersed.
Music
We have been busy practising ‘The Dragon Song’ and using our musical instruments. 3B enjoyed singing this week with lots of movement!
Here are some pictures of 3B jumping for joy and enjoying the weather!

Reminders
We have a trip planned for the 7th & 8th July to the Discovery Centre. Please remind children to bring back their slips. This visit does require a payment in order for us to go ahead with the visit. If you haven’t yet made a payment, please go on to parent pay. The closing date is the 4th July for payments.
On Monday, we do expect the weather to be quite hot. If children have a sun hat, please send this in with them along with sunscreen for topping up if needed.
