Phonics
During our phonics sessions, the children used their listening ears to hear and repeat sounds. We even managed to pass some sounds around the classroom.
Words
Our words this week are ‘heavy’ and ‘in’.
Maths
During our math sessions, we have been focusing on subitising. We played “Bunny Ears” and used subitising plates to display different amounts up to 5.
Worry Monsters
In preparation for Children’s Mental Health Week, we have been reflecting on our emotions and learning how to manage them effectively. The children have been busy creating Worry Monsters to help them express their feelings. We also read ‘The Colour Monster’ to further enhance our understanding of different emotions.

Everything else
This week, the children have shown a keen interest in small creatures. Their curiosity was sparked by a spider found in the toilet, which led to an outdoor hunt! During the hunt, they discovered several dead spiders, a Lace Webbed Spider, some worms, and a snail! In addition to their creature exploration, the children created their own counter games, played table football using straws and various materials, and participated in activities in the hall. They also enjoyed sorting buttons and having messy play with coloured foam.

Have a lovely weekend,
The Nursery Team
