This week we have enjoyed the story Katie’s Picture Show by James Mayhew.

In the story, Katie visits an art gallery. The signs on the artwork say ‘DO NOT TOUCH!’ but Katie does and she ends up falling inside one of the paintings. We looked at the painting ‘Winter’ by Zuzana Chalupova. We imagined falling into the painting. We thought about where we might land, what the problem might be and how we would get out of the painting. We used these ideas to plan and write a story.

Reginald Laurent
The children have also been creating artwork in the style of Reginald Laurent. He often uses detailed, colourful shapes arranged on a black background. The children carefully cut out shapes and we created a whole-class piece of art.

Vincent Van Gogh
A lot of children found out about Vincent Van Gogh for their homework. This week, we looked in detail at his painting ‘Sunflowers’. We enjoyed painting our own sunflowers.

Year 1 Art Gallery
We have been very busy creating lots of pieces of artwork this half term. The children are looking forward to showcasing all of their work at our Year 1 Art Gallery. All of our pieces will be on display on Thursday 12th February in the infant hall from 3.20pm. Please collect your child as normal and then walk around to the reception entrance, near Mrs Walton’s desk. The art gallery will stay open until 4.30pm, so the children at craft club can come along too. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!
Parents and carers will not be allowed to take photos at school-run events such as performances and assemblies. The school will take photos if appropriate and publish those that it has permission for.
These rules are for legitimate safeguarding reasons and concerns (and issues around consent).
Computing
We had lots of fun in our computing lessons. We continued our work on algorithms and the children followed two sets of algorithms to draw a crazy creature. They found that the first set of instructions was not specific enough and all their creatures looked different.

The second algorithm gave more detailed instructions, which meant that the children’s creatures looked very similar.

PSHE
This week, we looked at responsibility. Children talked about responsibilities they had at home and school, like putting their toys away and hanging their coats up. We discussed how different things are different people’s responsibility. We talked about different tasks and the children voted with their feet.

What it does: This cookie is used by the Wordfence firewall to perform a capability check of the current user before WordPress has been loaded.
Who gets this cookie: This is only set for users that are able to log into WordPress.
How this cookie helps: This cookie allows the Wordfence firewall to detect logged in users and allow them increased access. What it does: This cookie is used to notify the Wordfence admin when an administrator logs in from a new device or location.
Who gets this cookie: This is only set for administrators.
How this cookie helps: This cookie helps site owners know whether there has been an admin login from a new device or location.
wfCBLBypass
What it does: Wordfence offers a feature for a site visitor to bypass country blocking by accessing a hidden URL. This cookie helps track who should be allowed to bypass country blocking.
Who gets this cookie: When a hidden URL defined by the site admin is visited, this cookie is set to verify the user can access the site from a country restricted through country blocking. This will be set for anyone who knows the URL that allows bypass of standard country blocking. This cookie is not set for anyone who does not know the hidden URL to bypass country blocking.
How this cookie helps: This cookie gives site owners a way to allow certain users from blocked countries, even though their country has been blocked.
