Legendary Lessons!

This week in English, we have been using our knowledge of legends (particularly King Arthur and Robin Hood), to plan and write our own stories. We started by designing our protagonists and thinking about how we could describe them effectively. Once we had done this, we planned out our stories step-by step, considering what details we wanted to include in each of the five main sections. The children had some fantastic ideas and I am certain that they will be able to produce some excellent legends of their own!

In our Maths lessons, we have been continuing our work on multiplication, looking specifically at some of the times tables that are trickier to learn and some strategies that can be used to do so. So far, we have mainly been exploring the relationship between the threes, sixes and nines, but next week, we will also look at the sevens, elevens and twelves. This should hopefully help the children to boost their knowledge of these tables.

In Science, we have been learning about the states of matter: solids, liquids and gases. We began by exploring the properties of each state and then sorting an array of objects into groups based on these characteristics.

We particularly focused on how we could prove the existance of gases, since they are most often invisible. To help us understand this, we set up a range of different experiments that would help us grasp this more abstract concept.

We would also like to remind parents about children having appropriate indoor shoes, particularly on PE days. Our PE lessons currently take place in the hall, so the children will need either pumps or clean trainers to take part in these sessions safely.

Also, if any children have yet to return their permission slips for the visit to the mosque, please make sure that they have them on Monday as the trips are taking place next week.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
