Year 6 10.10.25
Kensuke’s Kingdom – The Jellyfish
This week we became Kensuke and rewrote a chapter of the book from his point of view. The children worked incredibly hard on their writing trying hard to include tension and description. In grammar we have tried hard to use a semi-colon to join independent clauses – see if you can spot any!
Science – Microorganisms
Did you know that algae – a type of microorganism – is found in some types of toothpaste? Or that viruses cannot live without a host? These are some of the facts we discovered this week in science as we looked a little closer at the world of microorganisms. We learned about several types and produced some beautiful work to help our audience learn more about them.
Maths
We have learned a new strategy for division this week: long division. It’s taken us a while to get to grips with it and we will still have to do lots of practice but we are really proud of how the children have worked on this skill. Here is a video to help if you’d like to work through this with your child this week
Royal Armouries Trip
Thank you to all families who have been able to contribute towards our trip to the Royal Armouries on Thursday 23rd (6D) and Friday 24th (6J) October. We have asked for a voluntary contribution of £5 per child to cover the cost of the trip and would like to politely remind you that if we do not receive enough contributions, the trip may not be able to go ahead. If possible, can all payments be made by next Friday 17th October.
