Reception News – 6.6.25
Wow – we can’t believe we are in the last half term of Reception!
Phonics
We have continued to revise the phase 2 and phase 3 phonemes ready for Year 1. Please keep practising them at home.
Maths
We began the week by investigating capacity. The children used the language ‘full’, ’empty’, ‘half full’ and ‘nearly full’. They enjoyed measuring and pouring drinks at our juice cafe!

We have also been counting lots using number tracks. They played games that encouraged them to compare numbers far apart, near and next to each other. (For example, 10 is a lot more than 2, but 5 is only 1 more than 4.)

Jenny York
The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit from Jenny York. She talked about being an author and writing stories. It was very funny!

Understanding the World – Maps
We have continued our work on maps. Before the holidays, we looked at the United Kingdom, now we are looking at the world! We looked at different places in the world to see if they are urban or rural.

Frogs!!
We have four frogs! It is very exciting!

Everything Else…

Eid-al-Adha
The children have learnt about the Muslim celebration – Eid al-Adha. We would like to wish all our Muslim families a very happy Eid.
Stockeld Park
The children are very excited about their trip to Stockeld Park in June. Thank you to everyone who has already paid.
Have a great weekend.
