Year 1 News – 5.12.25
English
In English, we looked at evaluative statements about our fire engine models. The children thought about the design process and final product. They then decided on which statements they agreed with for their own fire engines.
Phonics
We have continued to revise all the phonemes we have learnt. We are revising phases 2, 3, 4 and 5. We have also completed a phonics assessment with the children. The children have brought home a sheet of the phonemes that they need to keep practising.
Maths
We have moved onto subtraction this week. The children have been answering word problems.
Pantosaurus!
In PSHE, we met Pantosaurus. We spent time designing pants for him and talking about his PANTS rules.

The children loved singing his song!
Christingle
On Thursday, we had a fantastic trip to St John’s church in Farsley. As it was a local trip, we walked to the church, which the children found very exciting. We learnt about what a Christingle is and what it represents and then the children made their own. All the children were very sensible when we lit the Christingles in the dark church.

Thank you to all the parents who came with us. We hope you enjoyed it too.
Have a lovely weekend.
