World Book Day

Good evening,

Firstly, it was lovely to see all the children dressed so creatively. We had a great time trying to guess the adjectives that they had chosen. Thank you for all the effort at home.

World Book Day yesterday was enjoyed across the year group. 5HB and 5KH spent an hour or so in the morning with their reading buddies. 5HB made a book mark and read to their new friends. There was great feedback from both the children and adults about the meet ups and how they benefit both age groups.

In the afternoon, the children collaborated to make a set of story stones. These are stones with pictures of characters, settings, problems and solutions on them. The idea is that a number of the stones from each area are randomly selected and then a story has to be created around them. The stones will stay in class and when we have a spare few minutes, we will use them to develop our English skills. The stones pictured are the ones made by 5HB

At the end of the day, 5HB took part in a World Book Day Kahoot quiz. Vanshika and Jesse pushed ahead of the class for the win, but were ultimately just beaten by Theo. Well done Theo!

Computing

In computing this week, the classes have been using a spread sheet to calculate how many day, minutes and seconds they have been alive. They used formulas with the * (multiplication) function and brackets so calculations are carried out in the correct order to multiply the number of years into weeks then days, hours and minutes, remembering that some years are leap years. Ask your child if they can work out your age in minutes!

Have a lovely weekend
