Phonics

Over this week and next we are assessing how the children are doing in phonics. We look at the phonemes they know, reading hard to read and spell words, and sounding out and blending words using the phonemes we have been revising.

The new hard to read and spell words this week are: children, love. Please keep practicing the hard to read and spell flashcards. New words come home every Friday.

Maths

This week the children have continued to explore the composition of numbers within 10, focusing on the 2 equal parts combine to make a whole. They have also been introduced to doubles and they have enjoyed using the double machine to find doubles using numicon.

Understanding the World

Over the last couple of weeks we have looked at which books and objects are special to Christians and Muslims. We found out that the holy book for Christians is the Bible and the holy book for Muslims the Quran. We learned that Muslims use a prayer mat, and the children created their own. The children were able to share a lot of their own experience.

Spring Event – Wednesday 1st April

Thank you for your understanding with regards to the postponement of the Spring Event, great British weather! We have resceduled for next Wednesday 1st April (this is not an April Fool’s joke!) Wellington boots will still be advisable due to the grounds still being wet and muddy. The forecast looks better and hopefully we will avoid any rain!

Secret readers

Thank you to our lovey secret readers, you have been brilliant. Please sign up if you would like to read a story. We are taking bookings for after the Easter holidays.
