Autumn
This week, we have looked at things we see during autumn. We placed some pumpkins, tees, and hammers in a tray to support fine motor skills, and conkers and their shells in a tray for the children to explore. The children loved looking closely at the seeds and the spikey shells they came from.

Phonics
This week, we have been playing with sounds. We set up a farm-themed tuff tray and listened the the different sounds the animals make. We read our termly book, Dear Zoo, and made animal sounds. As with all our phonics sessions, we orally blended some words and segmented some too.

Maths
Our maths sessions this week have focused on ‘same’. We compared different amounts of different objects until we found some that were the same. We also revisited ‘fewer’ and ‘more’.

Everything else
On Wednesday, the children picked a school library book to share at home. Library books need to be returned to school every Wednesday in order to swap them for a new book to share. The children have enjoyed looking at autumn colours and have created some lovely leaf prints. They have also been busy building in our craft area and making some amazing models.

Have a lovely weekend,
The Nursery Team
