Phonics

During our phonics sessions, the children have been focusing on rhyming words. We created stories featuring items that rhyme and sorted pictures that rhyme on the board. The children are starting to recognise the similarities in words that have the same ending sounds, and therefore rhyme.

Maths

Our maths sessions this week have focused on pattern. We have looked at basic AB patterns where a sequence of two different elements repeat in a set order.

Word Award

This week, our words are ‘between’ and ‘big’.

Diwali

Some of our friends have been celebrating Diwali this week. The children have learnt all about the festival of light, danced and sung, made diya lamps, and created some beautiful rangoli patterns.

Reading buddies

Our reading buddies visited this week. It is always a highlight to see the older children and have them read with us.

Everything else

What a busy week… The children have been quite active this week. We have listened to some classical music while using ‘Flippy Flappers’ and claves to follow shapes on the board, danced along to Sonic, found worms and measured them, looked at dinosaurs and fossils, found out where we live on a map, built houses for some dolls, and mixed coloured water to create new colours.

Have a fantastic break, and we look forward to seeing you all on 03.11.25.
