Phonics

This week, we focused on using expressions! The children helped retell the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ while expressing excitement and shock. We also read ‘Suddenly!’ Additionally, the children practised making different sounds to match some chosen items.

Word Aware

This week we have looked at ‘dark’ and ‘day’.

Maths

This week, the children have focused on showing numbers up to three using their fingers. We watched and sang along to the story of Goldilocks while displaying the correct number of fingers to match different parts of the story.

Maps

The children have really impressed us with their map-drawing skills. We discussed using maps for different purposes before creating some amazing story maps to help us navigate and retell ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’.

Everything else

It’s been another busy week! We have continued to explore the concepts of ‘Past’ and ‘Present.’ The children were very excited to share their baby photos with the class. We also spent time creating musical instruments, which the children decorated with stickers. Earlier in the week, we took the bikes out before the frost and ice arrived. At the end of the week, the children enjoyed exploring outside to see what had frozen. We even had time to paint snowmen and have a mini disco!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
