Phonics

This week, the children have been using their listening skills to decode words and listen to the environmental sounds around our school. I told a story about a boy named ‘B-e-n,’ and his friend, ‘S-a-m.’ Throughout the story, I segmented simple words for the children to blend and reveal. We also listened very quietly to identify the different sounds in our classroom and around the school grounds.

Word Aware

The words this week are ‘enough’ and ‘fast’.

Maths

During our math sessions, we retold the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Throughout the story, we counted the characters to support our understanding of the values of 1, 2, and 3.

Performance

This week, the performances took up lots of our time. The children were amazing, and we are so proud of them all. We have published some preshow individual and group photos on eyLog.

Everything else

This week has been filled with creativity! The children have been busy finishing their cards (no spoiler photos here), decorating Christmas trees, colouring Christmas pictures, and making cloud dough (which certainly got a bit messy). They also used some equipment in the hall, completed a Cosmic Kids Yoga session, danced along to some action songs, and even learned about the moon!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
