Headteacher’s blog 13/6/25
It has been a glorious week at school! Year 1 classes have enjoyed a typically fabulous day at Rodley Nature Reserve with their wonderful volunteers, and 4L are off to Leeds city centre today for geography fieldwork before visiting Burnsall in the Dales later this month as a contrasting locality. On Monday, a Reception class will be going on a new trip to Stockeld Park – they will have a fantastic time – and on Tuesday Y6 are at the Leeds Industrial Museum! I am grateful to our teachers for putting the effort into arranging so many valuable off-site experiences.
This week, our Y1 children have been doing their statutory Phonics Check and they have done very well again. Year 4s have been doing their online Multiplication Check and our writing assessments in Y6 had statutory moderation – something that happens about once every 5 or 6 years. The moderation was positive and affirmative: standards, again, likely to be above national averages. Most other year groups will have end of year assessments in the next couple of weeks and assessment results will be shared in end of year reports in July.
