It has been lovely to see the sun shine again this week and our school grounds bustling with activity at playtimes and lunchtimes. There has be plenty of other ‘activity’ this week too. On Monday half of the Year 4 cohort took part in a skipping festival at West Leeds Academy, on Tuesday we took two netball teams to Priesthorpe for a competitive event, on Thursday afternoon a group of Y6 pupils took part in a mixed Tag Rugby event at West Leeds ARLFC and after school on Friday the U9 football team have a cup game away against Westerton.

As a school we take part in so many competitive sporting events. We try to provide competitive opportunities for children who haven’t represented the school before where the experience might take priority over the result as well as competitions that we are trying to win. We have some very talented children and recent ‘stand out’ achievements from Lillie (Y4) and Erin (Y3) in cross country highlights this. In the West Yorkshire Cross Country Finals earlier this month Lillie came 17th in her race and Erin came 7th. We are very proud of their achievements and of all the children who have represented the school at a sport.

Other events this week included the Year 1 local trip to Pudsey Civic Hall for a ‘pirate musical’ and the long but exciting Year 2 trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Year 1 were excited to hatch lots of chicks and are looking after them well. Speaking of new arrivals, we also welcomed back Mr Sharp after his paternity leave and had a lovely baby shower party for Mrs Kumar after school last night.  As Mrs Kumar leaves the school for a while at the end of next week, we welcome a new member of staff, Ms Sara Draxler, to the school as a teacher in Reception. Exciting times!

Tonight in the Junior Building is the PTA Race Night. The doors will open at 6:45pm and the first race will be 7:15pm. If you are able to make it, I look forward to seeing you there.
