I think this week has been the busiest I can remember for school tours for prospective families: four separate tours with at least a dozen families. I always enjoy these walk-arounds of the school and its grounds, confident that we will see good practice and happy, engaged children wherever we look. Often it is really obvious that our school is resonating with the hope, aspirations and values of a family; I have felt this many times this week. The future is bright!
On Wednesday night, we held a full governors’ meeting. We were delighted to explore lots of ‘best ever’ Y6 SATs results from the summer and strong feedback from our families, but we also recognise financial strains and some challenges around SEND and inclusion. We are fortunate to have such a strong, committed governing board who really care for this school, our children and its staff.
On Thursday, Reception children enjoyed a workshop about owls, linked to their class book ‘Owl Babies’. These beautiful birds were very patient as they were handled and admired. Our Year 3 children have been to visit a synagogue this week and Year 4 are going to visit a mosque next week. We think it is valuable to visit lots of different places of worship as part of our rich RE curriculum.
