It was great to see so many of our new families and children at the Reception Open Evening on Tuesday.  It is an exciting time for the children and families, and it is exciting for us too as we have a new Reception teaching team for September with Mrs Puddiphatt and Miss Bray in these roles this time. We are delighted to have these enthusiastic and skilled teachers beginning and developing their careers with us and I look forward to a very successful year.

On Wednesday we had a visit from a KS1 moderator, checking that our judgements for the end of Year 2 are sound. She was gushing in her feedback: superbly organised evidence, correctly graded and clearly part of an engaging curriculum – not ‘forced’ to jump through SATs hoops. Well done Mrs Lace and Mrs Loveridge – although I expected little else given how skilled and experienced they are. We also had a visit to check on our Y1 Phonics Test and we think our children (and staff) have done well again after lots of hard work (and fun) learning so many phonic sounds to help their reading and writing.  Well done!

Later on Wednesday we had our full Governors Meeting for the term. This was a big meeting discussing the staffing, finances and general performance of the school. We had three new governors – Andy Wood, Davina Bhanabhai and Karl Brennan – and they all made good contributions and look set to be effective additions to our governing body team.
