Farsley Farfield Primary School

Head teacher blog 10th January 2020

It is good to be back in school. This week, we have welcomed Mr Dan Hemming, our new deputy headteacher, to Farfield. Mr Hemming is an experienced deputy head with lots of energy, experience and expertise – he will be a great asset for the school.

Over the holidays I had the great pleasure of monitoring  children’s books. Year 1 are always my favourite books as the progress in these youngest children is usually most evident over a short period of time.  I was pleased with children’s progress throughout the school and the standards in Year 6 were good.  A key issue is making sure that children are always given quality time to respond to feedback/marking from the teacher and move their learning on.

We also did a very quick survey at the end of last term and I would like to thank all those parents that were able to take part. We had over 260 responses and I am pleased to report that 98% of children were reported to very (64%) or quite (34%) happy in school. We are working with those few children reported as less than happy in school and it is better to hear about this now rather than the end of the year.
