Phonics

In phonics we have learnt the new diagraphs ow, oi and new trigraphs ear, as in hear, clear, gear and air, as in hair, stair and chair. We have done lots of writing and reading in our phonic booklets.

Writing

Over the next 2 weeks we are writing about ‘Space’. The children will choose a picture of a planet, solar system or a rocket and write a fact about it. The children have listened to lots of facts from books and songs!

Maths

This week the children have continued to develop their understanding of counting. The purpose of finding out ‘how many’ objects there are has been a key focus. The children have enjoyed making towers to match each number block. We have noticed it created a ‘staircase’ and we compared the different amounts.

Understanding the World – RE

Last week we learned about special places to Christians – churches. This week we are learning about special places to Muslims – Mosques. It was fantastic to listen to the children contributing information about what they do at their Mosque and what happens at Mosque school.
