Polishing the performance
Year 5 performance
This week we have focused on the Christmas performance by ensuring that we are adding expression and volume to our voices. Everyone has learned their lines and the dress rehearsal on Friday went well. Understandably, there are nerves, which makes lines become rushed. We have encouraged the actors to take breaths and pause during their delivery so that they can be heard clearly. This can be practised at home before our performances on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
History
Our local history study continued this week when we looked at old photos of Farsley. We then tried to find the matching modern day image on Google Maps using the Street View option. Doing this meant that we could compare the images and describe the changes that have taken place over the past 100 years or so. We also inferred what life was like at the time, combining what we learned for our trip to Sunny Bank Mills.

DT
5B continued to work on their Mars rovers on Friday afternoon. Several more groups have built their vehicle and completed their circuit. The tricky part is making the two systems fit together. Once fully assembled they can be tested, ready for their trip over Martian terrain. 5B will finish their DT early next week and then 5K will make their rovers at the end of the week.
On Friday, we are planning to show the film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010). This will complete our English work from last half term when we read the book. The film is rated as PG and so a letter requesting permission to watch it will be going home at the start of the week.
Have a great weekend
