Phonics
This week, we met Mr Fox and his phonics box. We had to guess what was inside the box by listening to words being sounded out. We blended the sounds to reveal the object. We also played a game called ‘Find It,’ where we listened to sounds and blended them again before matching words to pictures on a grid.

Word Aware
This week, we have focused on the words “empty” and “early.”
Maths
The children have been practising their subitising skills. We played ‘show me’ before looking at some cards to subitise how many objects they could see. We are working on representations for the numbers 1 to 3.
Sarah Widdup
We had a real treat this week. Sarah came in and sang to us. We also had a Christmas sing-along with her before using tapsticks to tap out some tunes and dance to the music. The children really enjoyed the visit.

Everything else
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… This week, the children have been busy practising for our performances next week. The classroom now has some Christmas dressing-up clothes, a Christmas story area, and we even have a nativity set for the children to play with. Some children have been cutting out and decorating stockings, and others have coloured some Christmas pictures and Christmas trees. Of course, we have also had our usual activities as well.

Have a lovely weekend,
The Nursery Team
