Year 1 News – 10.10.25
English
We have had a second week of fruit-filled fun. The children designed their own fruity characters and wrote some brilliant sentences about them.

We also had our first whole-class reading lesson. The children enjoyed meeting the reading dogs and finding out what they do. This week, we used Predicting Pip to make a good guess about what might happen next in a story.
Maths
This week, we have focused on finding 1 less than a number. Some children found some of these questions a bit trickier.
Phonics
This week, we have reviewed all the phonemes learnt so far this half term – ay/ou/ie/ea/oy/ir/ue/aw.
Music
In music we have been practising our skills on the chime bars. We focused on the notes C and D.

Harvest Festival
The children all enjoyed the Harvest Festival. They saw a joke telling cabbage, fresh apple juice making and pumpkin weighing! It was good fun!

Homework
The children have brought home their purple homework book today.
Please also listen to them read and write comments in their reading record. Thank you for your support with reading and homework.
Have a great weekend.
