Headteacher blog 12th September 2025
The school has settled well into its new school year.
We had our first PTA business meeting on Wednesday: planning the programme of events for the year and agreeing some expenditure. The PTA is very strong: raising significant funds for the school and putting on some great events. Some long-standing members left last summer as their final children left the school but we have a fantastic ‘new’ group of leading members such as Jo and the two Ruths. Next Friday, 19th September there is a coffee morning planned where parents can meet the PTA and find out more. I hope some of our new parents and carers might be able to get involved.
I am already meeting lots of prospective parents whose children may join the school in the near future or next academic year. Each tour of the school is a chance to show off what we can offer and an opportunity for me to monitor behaviour and engagement across the school. Sometimes, we pause outside a classroom, not wanting to break a child or group’s concentration on a task or moment. Older children typically carry on without much distraction but the younger children do often stop and just ask: “What are you doing here?” Out of the mouths of babes… perhaps I need to spend more time in classrooms and less in my office.
