Year 1 News – 12.9.25
It has been a busy week of fun and learning in Year 1!
Phonics
We have reviewed the phonemes that we learned in Reception. The children also enjoyed whole-class paired reading. They all tried really hard.

We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at our phonics meeting on Wednesday at 5pm. Please come to the entrance, near Mrs Walton’s desk, and we will take you to the Year 1 classrooms.
Maths
We have been doing lots of counting and sorting of objects in maths. The children are enjoying working in their maths books.

English
In our English lessons, we have been talking about our families. The children have all drawn a picture of who lives in their house and labelled them.

Art
The children had fun creating rabbits and hedgehogs to display in our rooms. They are very creative!

History
In history, we discussed how we have changed since being a baby. We enjoyed looking at our photographs and discussing how we have changed.

We then sorted different items into whether we needed them when we were a baby or if we need them now.
PE
1H are working with a PE coach every Monday. She will teach them lots of new dance skills. 1GC will work with her after half-term. 1GC enjoyed their outside PE lesson, where they practised lots of skills.

Homework
Your child will come home with their purple homework book today. This homework is due in on Tuesday 23rd September. Please help your child complete this task at home. Please also hear them read and write a comment in their reading record.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year 1 Team
