Year 1 News – 20.3.26
English
We have continued with our senses booklets. We have completed our pages on the sense of touch and the sense of sight. We have also drawn our front covers!

Maths
We have started a new unit of work focusing on Place Value. This week, we have been learning about numbers to 50. We have been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

Science
This week, we investigated the enquiry question ‘What differences can our tongue taste?’. We learnt that our tongue has taste buds and uses these to decide if something is sour, bitter, sweet or salty. We then tasted a variety of different foods, including dark chocolate, salted crisps, lemon juice, marmite, strawberry sauce, olives and pickled onions and thought about how we would describe their taste.

George Webster
We enjoyed our assembly with George Webster. He read a chapter of his new book.

What does a nurse do?
This week, Elliott’s mum came to talk to the children about being a nurse. She brought lots of medical equipment with her. They had fun using everything!

Mystery Readers
Thank you to this week’s Mystery Readers.

Have a lovely weekend.
