Year 1 – 16.1.26
T Rex on the loose!!
After playtime on Monday, our classrooms were a huge mess! Lots of chairs had been tipped over and there were some large footprints.

We followed the clues and discovered that a Tyrannosaurus Rex had been to visit us! He asked us to find out lots of facts and write them in the booklets he had left us. We will continue with these booklets next week.
Phonics
This week, we have been learning about alternative graphemes. We looked at alternative ai – ay – play/a – apron/ey – grey/ea – break/eigh – eight/ a- e – plate. Who knew there were so many ways to read and write ai!

We also learnt about alternate ar – a – father, alternate ee – e – she and alternate i – tiger/igh – y – sky.
Maths
This week we have looking at numbers 11 – 16. We have learnt about tens and ones.
Their homework this week is to write all the number names from eleven to twenty.
Science
The children were given a challenge in science this week. They had to make something that was waterproof and could carry water across the playground. They had lots of fun making and testing their creations. Some children got a bit wet!!
