Head teacher’s blog 26th April 2019
It has been a very busy week for recruitment at school this week with a number of new teachers appointed for September. We were delighted by the quality of the candidates that we were able to attract to the school and the appointees are ambitious, talented and local practitioners who really want to come to our school and be part of its future success. I am sure that each of them will bring something special to add to our team. We have a number of fantastic colleagues leaving us this summer to begin exciting new chapters in their lives, but I am confident that we have recruited well in their stead.
On Tuesday evening Show Time club headed off on their latest treat, watching Annie at The Alhambra in Bradford. We have had lots of league football matches (girls’ and Y5 teams) this week and our Y6 football team came a close third in a large tournament, losing to the eventual winners in the semi finals on a ‘Golden Goal’. Class 1G had a fabulous day at Rodley Nature Reserve on Thursday prompting a parent helper to write: “Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed being on the school trip today. It was well organised, with great activities that engaged the children. Lots of them were telling me how much they loved ‘the nature’. I was impressed by the children’s behaviour while on the trip and politeness when asking interested questions. I feel that Farfield really fosters an appreciation and understanding of nature and the outdoors, which is something to be proud of.”
One sad event this week was a suspected arm fracture on the new monkey bars in the infants. As a result of this, we have lowered the bars by about 30cm to take more account of the age of our Foundation Stage children. The installation and safety surface were already legally compliant, but we hope that this small adjustment can improve safety whilst still providing challenge.
