Polar Animals

In our English and Geography lessons this week, we have been finding out about polar animals and in particular how they keep warm in the cold conditions. We have read some reports about different polar animals. We have looked at the features of this type of text. Next week we will start to plan and write our own reports about a polar animal.

Here we are organising sentences into paragraphs:

Spelling

In spelling this week, we have looked at different ways to spell the j sound – g, ge and dge. We have also looked at the homophones – where, wear, we’re and were.

Maths

We have finished our topic on Addition and Subtraction this week. Please keep working on number bonds and quick addition and subtraction at home. The children can work through the rest of the addition and subtraction activities on Mathletics at their own pace.

Next week we will start learning about shape.

History

This half term we will be finding out more about polar explorers and their expeditions to the South Pole. We looked at this photo in our first history lesson. The children used I see, I think, I wonder sentence stems to ask enquiry questions.

Computing

We have been learning how to use simple spreadsheets on Purple Mash. This week we added a value to an image and watched it calculate the answer!

2MW’s Special Visitor

Look who came in to see us this week! It was lovely to see Mrs Broadhead and baby Ernie.
