Headteacher blog 12/2/16
We have come to the end of an intense half term and I think all the children and staff are ready for a break. There has been so much flu and general ‘poorliness’ around; let’s hope the break can help everyone get well! It has been a busy week with Year 5 visiting the Read…

Star Wars came to Year 6 this morning! Desperate to enliven what might have been, frankly, a rather dull series of lessons on the use of active and passive verbs, the staff devised a morning on a Star Wars theme to deliver the learning in a much more engaging way. Some staff don’t need Read…

It has been a very windy week at Farfield: the turbine has generated about £250 worth of electricity in the past month! Coat ‘parachutes’ have been very much in evidence at playtimes – some things don’t change from childhood to childhood… I showed some prospective Year 3 parents around yesterday and they were impressed Read…

I had the pleasure of accompanying class 2C on their trip to York’s Castle Museum on Thursday. The children were, as expected, delightful and inquisitive. It was a shock, however, that there weren’t any other schools at the museum throughout the whole day. At Farfield, we really value educational visits and I hope that Read…

Head teacher blog 19th December 2015
We have come to the end of a long and successful term. Attendance over the term was 97% which is good and shows how much the children enjoy coming to school! This week, we have enjoyed rousing Christmas performances across the school and now the children and staff can all look forward to well-earned Christmas Read…

A Ghost of a Chance
Packed audiences enjoyed KS2’s performances of Scrooge. Many thanks to Mrs Sloan for the direction and choreography and a huge well done to all the children, especially Megan who had so many lines and songs to learn! Many thanks also for donations for tea and coffee: over £50 was raised for the Sick Children’s Read…

Blast Off! KS1 score highly in number-related nativity
Parents and grandparents enjoyed our 120 5-7year olds performing a maths-related nativity that had Mrs Fisher’s influence written all over it! This was, sadly, Mrs Fisher’s last Christmas production at Farfield and the children didn’t let her down. Singing, LOTS of dancing and good, clear narration ensured that both performances were memorable. Well done Read…
