In English this week, the children got to a pivotal point in our class text: Kensuke’s Kingdom and focused on becoming the character in our lessons. We did some work on how the author, Michael Morpurgo, built the character of Kensuke and looked in detail at his physical character as well as what his actions can tell us when we use our inferential skills. Then it was drama time! Children chose a key point in the story and emobdied the character in a freeze frame.
Here are some photos of children in 6D completing their dramatic poses. Apologies to parents of 6NK – they had camera access problems! Mr Nehaul thinks they did a fabulous job.
Maths
We have begun to look at the four operations and this week have recapped addition, subtraction and common factors. We have attached some examples of the sort of questions we looked at this week below – have a go! (answers are on page 2)

It is clear that some children have come to Year 6 and are still a bit shaky on their times tables. Please can you support your child in getting to grips with them as confidently as possible? TTRS is a brilliant resource and we would recommend little and often. 10 minutes a day, focusing on the tables we are a little unsure of, would pay dividends in just a few weeks. Multiplication facts really will underpin such a lot of future work and it will make a huge difference. Thank you in advance for your support with this.
