We have completed our unit on microorganisms and discovered the mouldiest place in the school!
6J found that wiping their bread in the farm room produced the most mould spores
6D found that wiping bread on the microphones in the hall produced the most.
Special mention to Mrs Kroon for having an absolutely horrific result after an experiment was carried out on her keyboard. It’s certainly encouraged us to make sure we wash our hands!
History
This week the children have been exploring life in the trenches and have created some creative and informative double-page spreads to showcase their learning. They have looked at animals in the trenches, periscopes and much more! Did you know that some rats in the trenches grew to be as big as cats? Or that soldiers had to find a very creative way of stopping poisonous gases if they couldn’t find a mask?

Maths
We are almost at the end of our second fraction block and the children have done so well. We have added and subtracted, multiplied and divided fractions and though sometimes it’s seemed a little confusing, we are proud of the effort the children have put in.
Lots of practice with these skills would be really useful as they are very often included as part of the SATS arithmetic test. We have flagged this site to children already; mathsbot (below) is a wonderful resource which will generate arithmetic tests for children and mark them for you too! We would encourage children to do one of these every so often with a strict 30 minute time limit.
