Year 6 15.12.23

English

This week saw the culmination of our work on War Horse with the children writing in role as soldiers describing the events of the Christmas Truce. We had some fantastic work with amazing language and vocabulary of the day along with evocative detail. Some children chose to be German and others British – we even had some children deciding to adopt particular accents and education levels for their soldiers and try to reflect their character through language choice. We are so proud of the work Year 6 have done on this. Here are some examples of their writing below.

History

Over the last few weeks children have been looking at life in the trenches and researching aviation in WW1. Here are some examples of some wonderfully creative double paged spreads and research notes our children have produced

End of term party and arrangements

On Thursday 21st December Year 6 will be watching War Horse. We would like to give children some hot chocolate and popcorn to enjoy the film with. If you would like your child not to have this, please let their teacher know.

On Friday 22nd December, Year 6 will be holding their Christmas party. Children are invited to wear their own clothing for the day.  We would like to invite children to also bring a small snack / party food for themselves to eat. Please do not bring multipacks of crisps / biscuits or fizzy drinks – simply a small treat to have in the afternoon after lunch.
