Year 4 News – 15.5.26

English

Continuing our work on adverts, this week Year 4 have been writing and records adverts for a new topic – Farsley Farfield Primary School! The children first chose their audience (children or parents) and then decided what information they would like to include in their advert. We practised writing questions, statements, commands and exclamations about different aspects of Farsley Farfield, to ensure that we could vary our sentences and use different persuasive techniques. We then got to work writing scripts, recording our voices and adding sound effects. Once again, there was some fantastic team work on display, and some great finished adverts. 4SL’s adverts are ready to listen to below. 4SN’s adverts will be ready next week.

P.E

We’ve had some lovely, sunny P.E lessons recently that we sadly haven’t managed to photograph, but we did get some shots of 4SL experiencing all the weather during this week’s lesson! Our focus this half term has been on striking and fielding games and we have been developing our rounders and cricket skills. This week we particularly worked on bowling, and the children did really well at trying to keep a straight arm and release the ball in the right place.

Music

We are enjoying our new song in music, which is an upbeat tune called Bringing Us Together. 4SL have been working hard to learn the glockenspiel part. We began by slowing down the tempo, and then gradually worked up to full speed! Today the children made some good observations when looking at the sheet music, noticing where the notes should be played at a louder or quieter volume.

Multiplication Tables Check

An email went out earlier in the week about the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check, which will take place during the week beginning Monday 8th June. Thank you for all the support that has already been given at home throughout the year. The children have been working so hard to learn their times tables. Any extra practice over the next few weeks would be really helpful.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sykes, Miss Levett and Mr Nehaul
