Fireworks Poetry

This week we have been reading and writing poetry about fireworks. We collected words and phrases and discussed features such as alliteration and rhyme. Finally we created our own acrostic poems. The finished poems were fantastic!

Spelling

This week we have learned the different spellings for the oa/ow sound.

Maths

This week we have been subtracting ones from a two digit number. We have been subtracting to a ten e.g. 13-3, 23-3, 33-3 and subtracting from a 10 e.g. 10-7, 20-7, 30-7. We then used these skills to subtract across a ten e.g. 12-9

Finally we practised using exchanging for subtracting across a ten.

Geography

This week in geography, we have learned where the hot and cold places are in the world. We learned about the equator and the polar regions.

Science

We learned about things that are alive, were once alive or have never been alive. There are some good videos and activities to look at to consolidate this learning at home on bbc bitesize.
