We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Jenny York on Tuesday and had lots of laughs ‘meeting’ her characters Sugar and Blaze amongst others. If you want to read ‘Walk the Plank’, please feel free to download your free copy of this. https://jennyyork.com/free-ebook/

English

In English this week we read our new class text called ‘The Bog Baby’ by Jeanne Willis. The children loved the story and it provoked lots of discussion around habitats and wild animals. We then looked at the setting in the story and have worked hard on generating right choice adjectives and the use of prepositions in our written descriptions.

Spelling

This week we recapped le and el endings and looked at words ending in al such as metal, pedal and hospital.

Maths

We are still learning about fractions in maths. This week, we have looked at unit fractions, non unit fractions and the equivalence of 1/2 and 2/4.

Geography

We have started a new geography topic looking at ‘Our School’. We began by looking around our school grounds for different features. We enjoyed completing an i-spy activity.

Art

In art we looked at the illustrations in our bog baby story. We looked at how the illustrator had drawn trees and flowers then tried to recreate a scene using the lines and shapes. We did a super job!

DT

We have made our puppets this week that we designed before the holidays. The children worked so hard on adding features using felt and fabric pens. They then sewed their puppet together using their chosen running stitch or over stitch. Some children showed their finished puppets to the younger children who were very impressed!
