Year 2 News 19.04.24

English

In English we have read the story, the Tiger who came to Tea. The children have enjoyed reading and writing activities based on this text. We have planned and written our own versions of this story which have been really entertaining to read!

Spellings

This week our spellings are words ending in le or el.

Maths

We have been doing lots of measuring this week. We learned that we can measure mass in grams and kilograms. We have been reading scales and solving problems. For homework, children can complete the measuring sections in their CGP work book starting on p28. They have also been assigned the measuring activities on Mathletics.

History

We have been looking at timelines and evidence in history this week. The children have learned the terms chronology, decade and century. We then looked at some time capsule objects; our job was to be history detectives and work out which decade all the objects were from.

DT

We have been investigating puppets this week. We looked at lots of different types of puppets and discussed how they work. The children then chose their favourite two puppets to compare.

Cooking

This half term we are making Scottish oatcakes and scrambled eggs.
