Year 2 News 12.06.26
English
This week in English we received a letter from a professor! He had found a mysterious creature and was asking us if we knew what it was and how to look after it. We wrote back to tell him it was a bog baby.
We looked at other formal letters and talked about their features. We made sure our letter had a formal greeting and sign off. We focussed on using conjunctions in our sentences to explain how to look after the bog baby.
The children did a super job!
Reading
We have now completed our reading SATs papers. The children tried their hardest to answer the questions using the strategies we have been practising. Well done Year 2.
Spelling
This week we have revised homophones. The trickiest ones to apply are there, their and they’re.
Maths
In maths this week we have been focussing on calculations. We have revised addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Yesterday we completed our Arithmetic SATs paper. The children all tried their best. Well done.
Geography
We have managed to do two outdoor geography lessons this week in between the showers! We started by doing a scavenger hunt to look at the features of our school grounds. We also learned about the compass points and used the cones to follow a set of instructions using North, South, East and West. We learned that the juniors is called the south building and the infants is called the north building.

DT-Puppets
We have been working on our animal glove puppets since last half term. Some of us have now finished these! Can you tell what the animals are? 2MW created some puppet shows with theirs!
