Florence Nightingale Workshop

We really enjoyed our workshop on Tuesday with ‘Florence Nightingale’. She told the children all about her life; the children were able to share their knowledge and also ask lots of interesting questions. They then enjoyed the teddy bear hospital activity. Finally the children were given some Victorian objects that Florence would have used.

Spellings

This week we are learning how to spell words ending ey that make the ee sound e.g. key, money, honey, monkey, valley.

We are also learning the common exception words- with, were, was, want, went.

We will be applying some of these words in our informal test on Monday. This usually consists of sentences with missing words.

Maths

We have continued our Money topic this week and have been calculating with money and also giving change. We used our number bonds to work out how much change we would need if we used 10p, 20p or £1 coins to pay.

Try this game for further practise. Choose the mixed coins option then select 20p or £1 to find change.

Science

The children really enjoyed carrying out their investigation today to see which material is best for bedroom curtains. They worked brilliantly together to make the window and curtains; they were able to work out that the one that let the least light in was the best material for the job. Well done!

Cooking

Another group enjoyed their stir fry!
