Farsley Farfield Primary School

Year 2 End of Year- 19.07.24

We have had a fun but busy last week in Year 2.

We have been busy as worker bees trying to finish our bee books! This week we have made chapters on making honey and why bees are important as well as completing the contents, index and glossary. We also made some honey biscuits!

We shared our finished books (and biscuits) with our Year 6 reading buddies. They were very impressed; we hope you are too!

We had a fantastic Skip-a-thon competition in our PE lesson this week. They all completed a series of skipping challenges that lasted 30 seconds. We were so impressed with how well the children can skip!

We have done some coding lessons this week. We used the program 2code on Purple Mash and worked through a series of challenges. We learned that an algorithm is a set of precise instructions. We learned how to create different algorithms including using collision detection and a timer. The children enjoyed making the frog turn into a prince and the princess turn into a monkey! There are lots of other fun coding challenges to have a go at on Purple Mash too.

We met our new teachers on Thursday. We hope the children are looking forward to their next challenge.

Good bye and good luck to Kavi and Sydney. Thank you for being such a special part of our school. We will miss you!

A final message from all the Year 2 staff: We all want to say a huge thank you to the children for a wonderful year. We will miss you! Thank you to parents for all your support this year and for your kind words, cards and gifts. It is very much appreciated x
