History
We enjoyed the story ‘Once There Were Giants’. We spoke about how we are born as babies and then grow into toddlers, children, teenagers and adults. We learned what a timeline is and placed pictures of familiar adults on one.

PSHE
In PSHE, we learnt about our feelings. We read The Colour Monster book and we named and discussed the different feelings that we might experience. We also watched this mindful video all about learning how to ‘be the pond’ and allow ourselves to experience emotions without them taking over us. We practised breathing in through our nose and out through our mouth to help us to remain calm when emotions feel like they are taking over.
We also introduced the children to our Year 1 ‘Worry Monster’. The children can pop their worries inside his mouth and he will eat them all up!

Scarecrow Fun!
The children enjoyed making bees ready for the Farsley Scarecrow Hunt. The straw went everywhere!! These will be on display next to the infant school car park next week.

Homework
Your child has brought home a red spelling book today. There are some spellings for your child to practise at home. This homework is due on Tuesday 29th September. There will not be a spelling test.
Please hear your child read and write a comment in their reading record.
Passwords
Your child now has access to Mathletics, Fast Phonics and Purple Mash. The usernames and passwords for these websites are stuck in your child’s reading record. We will print their certificates in school each week.
Changing Books
We will change their reading and library books every Friday. Please make sure that they bring these books back each week to swap.
