Viscosity and poetry in Year 5

Viscosity and poetry in Year 5

English

This week the children have finished writing their own versions of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes.

If you would like to read your child’s version, it is on the Google Classroom on their Chromebooks.

Here are some videos of children reading their poems out.

We have now begun working playscripts.

We have watched a simplified version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespear, which the children have really enjoyed.

A link to these videos can also be found on your child’s Chromebook.

Maths

In Maths we have been completing formal multiplication and division methods.

The children have done very well with this. However, in order to be truely successful, it is essential that they knw their times tables fluently. We have therefore been setting battles between the two year 5 classes on TT Rockstars. Please could you ensure that your child practises their times tables on TT Rockstars and vcontributes towards the class score.

Science

In science we are looking at the different properties of materials. This week we tested the viscosity of liquids. Here are some photos of the experiment.

PE

Finally here are some photos of the children enjoying themselves boldering at the Depot.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs Kroon and Mr Beevers.
