This week in Year 5
The children have continued to work hard this week in Year 5 and we have begun proper work on our Science and History topics.
Science
Many children were already very knowledgable about our solar system while some have much to learn. We began by learning the order of the planets in our solar system and a little bit of information about each one.
History
We revisited what a chronological timeline is and the children enjoyed ordering some key events from history. We then produced a scaled timeline showing key events from the Ancient Greek civilisation, starting from the first Olympics and ending with the Roman’s taking over. The children made an accurate scale from 800BCE up to the year 0, and played events correctly on the timeline.
Maths
This week we learned all about numbers up to 1,000,000 (One million).
We also learned how to multiply and divide numbers by 10, 100 and 1000.
We begun our new PE units this week.
The children performed some excellent counter balances in 5KH’s PE.
In 5DH, the children developed dribbling and passing skills in hockey.
