Farsley Farfield Primary School

This week in Year 3

We’ve had a great week in Year 3!

English

The children have been writing diary entries from the point of view of crew members on board The Endurance. We have been really impressed with the way the children got into role and with the descriptive language they have chosen. Here are some of our favourite sentences from 3SB:

French

We put our French skills to the test with our very own French cafés this week! The children learnt how to say ‘I would like’ in French and then ordered their chosen fruit at the café. We had lots of fun and the children spoke very well.

Science

In science we had fun learning all about the different muscles in our body and the different jobs they do! We then put our muscles to the test with a variety of challenges!

Geography

In geography, we thought about climate change, including what global warming is, the impact of climate change and what we can do to help our planet. The children then made some thoughtful posters about this topic.

PSHE

In PSHE we listened to the story The Hueys in the New Jumper by Oliver Jeffers, and thought about how it feels when we want to do something different from the group we are in. The children created a conscience alley to help them think about the different feelings that people might experience. We all agreed that it is good to stand out from the crowd and celebrate our individuality!

Mummified Tomatoes

Both classes have now had a look at the tomatoes we ‘mummified’ as part of our work on the Egyptians last half term. We found out that the mummified tomatoes had changed from a bright red to an orangey colour and had dried out and shrivelled, whereas the control tomato had gone mouldy.

Well done to 3B for being the Reading Eggs champions for the second term in a row!

Also well done to this week’s special mentions: Ella, Ayra, Leila, Sonam and Beatrice.

Thank you to everyone who has returned a permission slip for our trips to Harlow Carr after Easter. 3SB could still do with at least one helper for our trip on Tuesday 16th April if anyone is available to come with us.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sykes and Mrs Begum
