This week in Nursery

Birds

This week the pigeon has been visiting again so some of the children have be making their own pigeons.

Number 4

This week in our Maths teaching sessions we have been representing the number 4 on paper. The children drew 4 horizontal lines, 4 vertical, 4 squares, 4 sunshines and the numeral 4. They have made such good progress with their understanding of numbers as well as their ability to represent the value of the numbers. They are also very good at subitizing.

Rhyming

We have been doing lots of rhyming activities with the children over the last few weeks and reading rhyming stories. This week we read ‘Bug in a rug’ and the children helped with the rhyming words. Rhyming is a very tricky skill to learn but the children are doing very well. Please help at home by making up silly rhyming words, you could start by using their name for example: Stan, van, ran, pan, ban and so on. You can even use nonsense or alien words in the rhyming string.

Messy Play

Messy play is very popular in Nursery and this week the children have been experiencing shaving foam and an alternative to playdough. The dough is made using cornflour, hair conditioner and food colouring. You could have a go at making it at home.

A new ‘Write Dance’

The children really enjoy taking part in the ‘Write Dance’ activities and this week we discovered a new one…
