This week in Nursery

This week in Nursery

We have had such a busy week in Nursery!

Word study

We have been reading the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and the word danger was used so we decided to explore what it meant. The children were very good at talking about what things were dangerous and we found lots of good examples…

Please use this word at home with your child to reinforce their understanding.

Number 1

Last week we introduced the number 1 to the children through the Number Puppy story. This week the children have been searching around the room for 1 green object and talking about the circle shape. They have been standing on 1 leg, patting their head 1 time and touching 1 nose! Please have a look around the environment at home and point out the numeral 1 and talk about the number in everyday life. You can also look for circles.

The Story Bus

The Story Bus visited us again this week and is coming again in a few weeks time at the beginning of the week so that all the children will have had an opportunity to visit it. The children listen to stories, sing songs and play instruments as well as learning how to choose stories for themselves.

Here is one of the stories the children listened to…

Reading Buddies

The whole school is talking part in ‘Reading Buddies’ and Nursery have been paired with Year 3. Today 3B visited for the older children to read stories to the younger children. Next week the other Year 3 class will visit on Monday. Here are a few photos of them enjoying books together…

Lots of other fun!

As usual the children had lots of fun either with their friends or engaged by themselves.

Have a lovely weekend from the Nursery team
