The first weeks in Nursery

The first weeks in Nursery

Settling in

The children are all settling in to Nursery. They are becoming independent with their jobs when they arrive. Lots of children are able to take their fruit out of their bags and put it in the basket. They can take their coats off and put them on their pegs with their bags. They then go into Nursery and find their name to self register. Some children still need support with these tasks which is expected at this time of year but some children are completely independent. We will work on these skills with them and ask you to help us by working on putting on and taking off coats independently. Once in Nursery the children are generally happy and settled. They are making new friends and learning new routines. We have had a lovely start to the year. Here are a few photos of what they have been doing…

Write Dance

We do lots of fun things in Nursery and one of them is Write Dance. The children join in with fun moves which promote coordination and develop gross motor skills. The children love the different songs and this week we have been learning the moves for ‘Banana Boogie’. Click on the link to share this with your child at home.

Fruit

Thank you for sending the children with fruit this week. We do get fruit provided but it is a bit hit and miss so it is helpful if they have their own if possible. We enjoy a group snack time which is a lovely social time. We talk about healthy eating, the children help hand out the fruit so they learn the names of their peers, they learn turn taking, they see other children eating different fruit which encourages them to try things, the list and benefits are endless!

Missing jumper

This week a pale green Zara hoodie without a zip has been sent home with the wrong child. It has writing on the front saying ‘It’s new’. Please can you check to see if your child has brought it home by mistake.

Have a lovely weekend from the Nursery team
