Space, Greeks and football trials in year 5.

Hi all,

The children have been settling into year 5 routines nicely this week.

This week 5B enjoyed a lesson making a scaled version of the solar system out of toilet roll. They couldn’t believe the distance between some of the planets! Here are some photos.

In 5K we drew the planets of the solar system and found out key facts about them. Next week we will be attempting the toilet roll lesson!

In history we learnt about modern Greece before moving on to ancient Greece in the next lessons. The children produced some great slide shows.

We have now given out homework, which will need to be handed in by Wednesday. Both year 5 classes improved there reading scores from last year. 5K had 82%, and 5B had 90% of children reading and signing their reading records. This is an excellent score. Well done both classes. We hope they keep this up every week as it will really help their reading.

Football

Mr Beevers held a trial for the afterschool football club , and potential football team players, today at lunch time. This was very popular and unfortunately not all children will be able to participate. We will let children know who can join the afterschool club shortly.

We hope you enjoy your weekend,

Mrs Kroon and Mrs Beevers
