Phonics

This week we have learnt our first diagraph (two letters which make one sound) – ck. We also learnt the phonemes e, u and r. The harder to read and spell words we learnt are to, into, put and go. The children have been given the flashcards for these phonemes and words. Please keep all flashcards in your child’s bookbag as we use them in school too.

In our ELS booklets the children are continuing to practice the formation of new graphemes. We have started to sound out and blend words to match them to the correct picture.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Reading, Phonics and Maths Workshop. This video will support you to pronounce the pure sounds. If you have any questions then please do get in touch.

Maths

In Maths we have continued our learning on numbers up to 5. This week we have focused on number 3.We enjoyed sharing out items for the 3 bears picnic. The children have played a subitising game called 3 or not 3. They have also made collections of 3 using different objects.

PE

In PE we focussed on balancing this week. First, we balanced on one leg like flamingos. Then we practised to balance cones and bean bags on our heads. In the end, we had a race where the children tried to transport bean bags and cones on their heads without them falling off.

Everything else…

Have a great weekend,

The Reception team
