Phonics

This week our tricky word is what. We have continued looking at consonant clusters like nk in the word pink, and ft in the word soft. Can your child think of words with these consonant clusters in?

Maths

This week we have focused on deepening the children’s developing automaticity with number facts including knowing that whole amounts can be split into parts, knowing the different ‘numbers within’ 4 and 5, and naming the parts that make the whole number (e.g. that 5 is composed of 4 and 1, and 3 and 2).

RGK at Harlow Carr

We had a lovely day at Harlow Carr. The children enjoyed looking carefully at the beautiful flowers and drawing them. They also had lots of fun in the playgrounds. Thank you to all the parents who came with us.

RP at Harlow Carr

RP had a fantastic time at Harlow Carr. They really enjoyed creating their own artwork and were inspired to continue this work in the classroom. Thank you to all the parents who came with us.

Understanding the World

Our RE unit this half term is ‘What can we see in our wonderful world?’ This week we read the lovely story ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’. The children learnt the new word ‘environment’ and discussed litter, recycling, and how we can look after the world.

The children enjoyed using the litter pickers to tidy up our school grounds and some children asked to make posters.

Science Superstars

We were impressed with all our class auditions. We have lots of super scientists in Reception! Well done to Oliver and Ezra who were chosen as our class winners.

Have a lovely weekend.
